Bobbing, Running, and Hula-Hooping at the 2013 BlogOlympics
19 November 2013

My body and my liver have finally recovered from the inaugural 2013 Mr. Price Sport BlogOlympics. Yeah, it took almost a week.

And what a day it was! 24 bloggers from Jozi, Cape Town, and Durbs gathered at Tsogo Sun's Sun Square Hotel at Suncoast last week Wednesday to carbo-load and nourish our bodies before the beeeeg day.

Once we had all met, exchanged web addresses, and sussed out the competition, we headed through to Moses Mabhida Stadium to get the competition going. We were escorted through the presidential entrance and got to change in the players' changerooms! Like, some really hot bums were there once... We were kitted out in the latest Mr. Price Sport gear and Team Jozi was ready to kick some ass! We were about to embark on nine events, all using games from Mr. Price Sport's ProMaster range.

With the first activity being the hula-hoop, there was no hope as the majority of us lasted about 3.4 seconds...

...whilst Miss Kate Nokwe ended up rocking it while singing the National Anthem. Respect, me lady!

We then moved on to 'flinging rings', and chucking Wobaba Balls as Team Jozi took the lead...

The Concentration

After lunch, Durban's humidity and altitude started to reflect in Team Jozi's performance as we actually started thinking about the fact that we should be working. We threw frisbees, played with MORE balls, made fools of ourselves with the devil's form of hacky-sack, and played darts.

I don't want to talk about these things. Impossible!

Despite the effort on my face, that ball didn't go far.

The BlogOlympics ended with an intense obstacle course that had us gasping for air! And, even though I got Team Jozi well ahead of the pack, I lost my shoe, my balance, and any integrity I had left.

At the end of the day, Team Cape Town took the crown. Well done, dudes!

The overall individual winners were Tyrone Woods from My City By Night in first place, Andrew Berry from We Are Awesome took second, and Uno De Waal from Between 10 and 5 in third.

Kate and Uno also took away The Biggest Tosser awards for their throwing achievements.

To celebrate the day, we had some cocktails on the deck of the Sun Square Hotel then headed to Spiga d'Oro on Florida Road in our Ubers to buy bottles of Patron bond further. A brilliant end to a brilliant day! The hangover... Not so much.

I definitely need to head back to Mr. Price Sport to purchase these games and get some practise in for next year! Mad love for the Mr. Price Sport team and Paton Tupper Digital for an absolutely stellar day and night!
