My Top 5 Summer Essentials
02 December 2014
The next three weeks are going to be tough. We have to control the urge to slather ourselves in something that smells like coconut and throw our hands in the air like we just don't care prematurely.
Until such time, I've put a list of Summer essentials together, so that you're fully prepared for when those glorious holidays arrive. You don't want to be without these five things...
1. HÄAGEN-DAZS MANGO & RASPBERRY ICE CREAM
When I think of the word 'indulgence', Haagen-Dazs is the first thing that pops into my mind. Also, 'happiness', 'perfection', 'yum', etc.
The latest addition to the luxury ice-cream family is a mango and raspberry combination that tastes exactly like Summer. The perfect pairing culminates in a delicious mango dairy ice-cream intertwined with a real raspberry puree swirl. I've had this for dinner every night this week. And the occasional breakfast.
2. AN ANNI KING PURSE
Anni King is the brainchild of the lovely Joanna Chen. The exquisite collection of handcrafted genuine leather handbags can now be purchased at their online store, putting chic and feminine simplicity at your fingertips. I have the Daffodil in baby yellow to keep Summer by my side.
3. DERMALOGICA SOLAR DEFENSE BOOSTER
Anyone who knows me knows about my irrational loathing of the sun. Yeah, it's a great thing in theory, but I'm not a huge fan of skin cancer and age spots hey. Dermalogica's Solar Defense Booster carries a SPF of 50 (swoon) and is not greasy or sticky. It is a rich formula, so you only need a small amount and it lasts quite a while. Please don't step outdoors without this, guys and girls.
You didn't think The Patron Princess would leave this out, did you? Whether it's a shot of XO, sipping on gold, or adding fresh limes to the silver version, Patron is the gateway to the best nights of your life.
5. SHARKS SEASON TICKETS
Yeah, I know this one is solely for Durbanites and only valid next year, but season tickets are now available for games at The Shark Tank. I heard that a handful of Sharks players are personally calling people at random to urge them to purchase tickets and I am eagerly waiting for my phone to ring. Season ticket holders also qualify for up to R28,330 worth of vouchers and benefits from Sibaya Casino.
And there you have it, folks. Go out there, eat, drink, be stylish, don't get sunburnt and be merry.
