TUSC Treat You Well With Their Treatments
17 September 2013

Truth be told, I have always been a bit nervous about making the transition from a 'pamper' facial to something deeper and more medical for my skin. My skin is pretty sensitive, but served me well up until now (thanks for the sunscreen, Ma!)

However, my curiousity and sneaky appearance of very fine lines got the better of me and I decided to visit TUSC in Sandton City. TUSC is a medical aesthetic skin care centre and they work closely with medical practitioners to provide a broad range of treatments, including facials, chemical peels, botox, and laser hair removal. You understand my reluctance now, yes? I mean, isn't all that reserved for when you turn 50? *shrugs* I booked anyway.

I value personalised service over anything, so when Blanche chatted to me not only about the problems I have with my skin, but about my lifestyle, skincare regime, and preferences, I felt pretty rad.

She recommended the LED Bio-Synthesis treatment for me. Let me take you through how it went down.

1. Cleanse and Exfoliate

A very obvious and necessary step. Blanche did a power cleanse. Sounds intense, huh? This involves using a combination of Dermalogica's Ultra-calming Cleanser and Daily Microfoliant, and removed it with the BT Micro handheld machine, which combines ultrasonic exfoliation with a micro-current. BT Micro ultrasonic exfoliation works by creating high speed oscillations. Blanche then took the readings from this handy little machine, which shows the moisture content levels. My level was at 35, which indicates slight dehydration. I could immediatley feel how smooth my skin was already and it was perfectly prepped for step 2.

2. The LED Treatment

Blanche applied two serums from Bio Therapeutic, which enhances the effects of the treatment, then covered my face with the Bio Therapeutic gel mask. I felt like a character out of a sci-fi film at first, but who doesn't go through that at one point or another, right? The masque contains high levels of hyaluronic acid, which mimics the body’s natural hydrator, to bind moisture in the skin.

Then the real fun started. The disco show! Ok, not really... The Bio-Synthesis LED lights change from red, yellow, green, and blue, depending on what is being treated and how deep the penetration needs to be. This part of the treatment lasted 20 minutes and I now have insight into what it feels like to spend time at Truth, boet.

3. More Analysis

Unsurprisingly, my skin came out better on the other side with our little machine indicating moisture levels of 65! Go, skin, go! My skin also felt firmer and I didn't experience the usual tightness.

4. Moisture, Glorious Moisture!

My hydrated skin was boosted even further with a BT Cocktail and protected with Dermalogica's Solar Defence Booster SPF50.

Every step of the the treatment felt amazing and I believe that my glow can be seen from space. It is recommended to have this done 4 - 6 times, so I will definitely be back!

Have you tried anything like this before? Would you try it going forward? Let me know your thoughts...
